Welcome to Wildlife West
Wildlife West, also known as the New Mexico Wildlife Association, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting New Mexico’s native wildlife and habitat through education, research, and the operation of our wildlife park. We also create hands-on opportunities for underserved youth to build real skills in construction, animal care, and public outreach. When you visit, you’re helping support that mission and the animals who call this place home.
Many of the animals and birds you’ll meet here are certified non-release. They were injured, orphaned, or illegally raised as pets and can’t survive in the wild. Wildlife West gives them a safe, comfortable home for life.

Meet Maggie!
Maggie was found roaming a ranch near Santa Fe with no fear of people or dogs, meaning she was headed for trouble.
Thankfully, the NM Department of Game and Fish safely captured her using a trap baited with donuts, and it wasn’t long before she found a new home at Wildlife West.
